Holiday Fun for Singles

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Rinatta Paries Are you dreading the holidays because you are single? For those who are alone, this can be a difficult season — especially if you know what it is like to be in a relationship during this time of year. This can, however, be your best time of the year if you follow this plan: 1. Participate in Lots of Holiday Gatherings Who knows? You may meet Mr. or Ms. Right at that next party. Or you may meet someone who knows someone who is right for you. And you will most certainly have fun, which makes for a good holiday season. So how do you find these gatherings? Ask your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers about upcoming holiday events. Then see if you can join in on the fun! 2. Volunteer Many people volunteer during the holidays, especially very good-hearted, loving people — the kind of people with whom you want to be in a relationship! This is why volunteering is a great way to meet others while also making yourself feel good for contributing. How do you find these opportunities for holiday volunteering? Look in your local paper and in your phone book for charitable organizations. Or contact your local United Way for charitable organizations in your area. 3. Worship Religion and spirituality can be uplifting and satisfying for your soul. Thus, the holidays are the perfect time to rejoin or revisit your place of worship. Plus, you’ll find that lots of other people are making the same choice this season! If you have trouble meeting your fellow worshipers, take on a volunteer role. Become a greeter, volunteer on a holiday committee, or take on some other role that fits your personality and interests. Being in a role with a job to do makes it easier to strike up conversation with people — and possibly find romance! 4. Participate at Work Are there holiday events going on at your work? If so, participate! If not, lead a group of people in organizing some activities. Create opportunities to socialize with as many of your co-workers as possible, then ask each of them to bring friends to the events. 5. Send Out a Holiday Letter Mail a letter about your life to your friends and family, and maybe even to work clients. Tell them about significant events and milestones in your year — and tell them you are single and looking! Describe your ideal mate and include your picture. Who knows what the postman will bring back? 6. Step Out of the Ordinary Participate in activities that you either normally avoid or don’t have time to do. And take time to research brand-new activities in which you can partake. Step out of your norm and you are likely to meet new and interesting people. Some ideas for activities: speed dating, neighborhood gatherings, singles clubs, dances, group nature hikes, etc. Find these activities by looking in your local paper, surfing the Internet, and listening to your local radio stations. Also ask your friends if they know of any fun group events. 7. Be More Social Try to attend at least three social occasions a week right now — perhaps a party, a singles event, and a work event. These activities should not just consist of you and your friends going out. Do things that will expose you to new people. If you can manage more then three social events a week, you will be even better off. The more social you are, the more people you will meet. 8. Be Happy You want to shine and be attractive this holiday season. This can be somewhat achieved with stylish clothes, a good haircut, and jewelry and makeup for women. However, it will be better achieved by being happy, which will make you shine from the inside out. Make yourself happy by working on your attitude on a daily basis. Focus on being grateful for the bounty of what you have, even if you feel that what you have is not enough. 9. Give and Be Generous Give to friends and loved ones, but also give to strangers and charity. The more you give, the more joyous and in the holiday spirit you will feel. The more joyous you feel, the more attractive you will be to others. People want to be with joyous, happy people. 10. Make a Significant Emotional Shift Learn something extraordinary and profound about yourself, your relationships, or your life. Transform some part of yourself. Change something so radically that you will have no doubt about the change. This will help you attract love now and will guarantee that your relationships will be better in the future. Knowing this, you will enjoy the holidays more. Your Relationship Coach, Rinatta Paries www.WhatItTakes.com About The Author Rinatta Paries, 1998-2002. Do you know how to attract your ideal mate? How Your Big Stomach Is Breaking Your Heart, Literally

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Gregg Hall If you are anything like me you told yourself over and over that you would never let yourself get out of shape like your parent; totally inactive, major overweight, and also having the health problems that come along with it. I started bodybuilding at the age of twelve and continued most of my life until life got in the way. I was in a bad car wreck that I let knock me down and I ended up sitting around drinking beer and doing next to nothing. I went from a lean 220 at 6′3″ to almost 300 lbs in about a year and a half. I finally realized I had to do something about it and I went on a fast for three weeks to give me a jump start and started walking daily. Now three months later I am at 235 and walking five miles a day, getting close! Why did I just tell you all that? Because I wanted you to know it can happen to anybody, the key is you have to get back up and be active. I know it can be tough to find the time, but what would you rather do get an hour less sleep and live longer or have a long sleep real soon, like forever? We all have the same twenty four hours, so find the time. According to research in the United States way more than half of the population is considered overweight or even obese. This is not just, “heavy”, this is pure fat! It also means that all of these people are either having heart problems or will soon have. It is basis physiology folks, the heavier you are the harder your heart as to work and if you have all that fat around it that doesn’t help. You are also much more likely to have high cholesterol which also puts you at a higher risk for heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots. It’s all about the belly! Even if the rest of your body is normal, if you have a big stomach you are at an increased risk for heart disease. The good news is that you can reverse it and by reducing your waist measurement and lowering your body weight you can substantially reduce the heart disease risk. I recommend that you do more than just diet. You need to diet and exercise, not only will it help you get the weight off faster but it will also keep your ticker healthy and you will feel better. People who participate in a regular exercise program have a fifty percent lower chance of having a heart attack. Regular exercise will help you maintain your weight, lower cholesterol, and blood pressure plus it will help reduce your resting heart rate. This is the best thing you can do for your heart and you can start out easy. If you can’t walk but a few minutes, just start there and increase it gradually. Your heart will thank you for it. Marketing Students: 5 Guidelines For Your Final Paper

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Otilia Otlacan Get motivated! (’Why do I write this paper?”) This is a basic question with a not-so-basic answer. In order for a job to be done well and your dissertation paper is, in fact, a job to be performed you should give yourself time to figure out why you will do it and get yourself motivated. No motivation no job quality, any professional can confirm that. Here are some possible answers to the motivational question: - Because it is a must if you do not do it, you do not graduate; - Because, if done with responsibility, it is an excellent opportunity to stand out from the crowd and your peers the Marketing job market gets busier with every day; - Because you can practice your research skills while being directed and supervised by professionals (eg. your university professors); - Because it could be a starting point for your career. We all know the more you think about it, the more answers you can find. Once you have your motivational level raised, you will surely want to start your paper right away. Choose your subject (”What should I write about?”) Allow yourself plenty of time to think what subject you would like to pick for your paper. In some cases, your professors already have a list of subjects from where you can choose one but sometimes they would happily accept your own subject, providing it is of interest and you convince them of your reasons. Consider the following, before you go for a subject or another: - “Marketing” is a broad field which of its aspects do you feel more interested into, and more comfortable discussing about? Do you recall any particular course / chapter / subject that raised your interest at a time? - Why would your subject be of importance and who would be your auditorium? - Is your subject researchable? Is there any academic literature base on the subject? - Do you think you can come up with a personal contribution to the subject? - Do you see yourself developing that topic further on? - Can you name at least a couple of persons who can guide you? Would they be willing to do that for you? Documentation, documentation and… documentation “Documentation” is a magic key for any successful paper. Student or acknowledged professional, once you made up your mind about the subject of the paper, most of your efforts will be directed (or should be directed) towards documentation. Depending on your subject, on your knowledge and your search capabilities, you might want to start with this even 1 2 years prior to raduation date, in order to have enough time to collect and review as much information as possible. Major information resources: libraries, bookshops, internet, newspapers and magazines (consider subscribing to main specialized magazines in your field!), university printings, company exhibitions and presentations. Build your paper You do not have to review the whole documentation before you start to lay the bricks of your paper. Usually, such works are done using the “top-down” strategy, meaning you start with the major lines and then you develop the minor ones. You can compare this strategy with the action of drawing a tree: you might want first to draw the tree trunk, then the major branches, you will draw then some smaller branches growing from the big ones, and at the end you draw the leaves and flowers. Therefore, once you are clear with the subject and the basics of your paper the trunk of the tree, you can start organizing your chapters the major branches. Generally, you wont have less than 3 main chapters and more than 6 7: remember your paper has to offer a valuable content but in the same time it has some space limits (for example you could be told not to exceed 70 pages including the appendix and graphics). As you go on with your documentation, you will probably feel the need to reorganize the chapters and subchapters several times this is the way of any good writing, so don’t be afraid of doing it as long as you stick to your subject and your chapters are part of a whole, “flowing” one from each other. Consult with you supervisor for any major changes, and ask directions if you feel the documentation is overwhelming, it becomes difficult to discern from the large amount of information and you feel like losing your coherency. As a future Marketing professional, creativity is a basic skill as well as analytical thinking: you should prove them by including your own comments, opinions and conclusions upon the subject and not limit yourself to present only what other people said. Be critical to yourself and to others. Don’t be afraid to bring out your own vision that’s what counts the most! Writing style Your paper is an academic piece of work, and so it should look and feel like. Give a lot of attention to your writing style: - language issues keep an academic and formal style, with no colloquial expressions and no slang terms. Be very precise and avoid hypes (yes, yes, we know it’s hard to do it especially when you’re a Marketing or Advertising professional-to-be) and irrational use of superlatives (”the best”, “the greatest”, “the most” ). For a professional look, avoid using vague expressions such as “some authors say”, be specific and precise! A common mistake is to assume some things are obvious or known: no, they’re not obvious to everyone, so you have to justify your statements (okay except maybe if you’re saying that “1+1=2″…) - grammar issues nothing can cut enthusiasm for a paper more than poor spelling and grammar! Check check check and check again your grammar before submitting your work: make use of the grammar facilities included in the word processors, ask your friends to proofread your paper, use dictionaries and grammar books every time you’re unsure about something. - layout and other issues: keep a professional clean simple layout, and stick to one font type (eg. Arial, Times New Roman or Verdana). Unless you’re asked to submit your paper in another layout, you might want to leave 3 cm (1,2 in) edges on both left and right side, use line spacing at 1.5 and font sizes 10 to 12 (depending on the font type) for normal text, with chapter title sized at 14. Double check your quotations to be acknowledged, and make sure the tables and drawings are numbered correctly. Take a final look at your work and ask yourself if you’re feeling proud of it. If the answer is a strong “yes!”, youre probably ready to present it. Presentation the final torment! Let’s not forget these guidelines were written especially for Marketing students. For you, the presentation of your paper should count much more than for other students, since it is a way to promote yourself and your work. If you fail at marketing your own person, how can you be successful in marketing something / someone else? This is the reason why you should dedicate a lot of time and energy to this apparently insignificant last issue. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that since your paper content is great, it will speak for yourself. It will not! You have to bring out the strengths of the paper and try to minimize its weaknesses, if any. Treat your paper like it is a new product that needs to be launched, and your teachers are the consumers. Make them “buy” your paper, make them enthusiastic about it! Start your presentation with an introduction of how the paper subject attracted you, then shortly point the elements of novelty you bring in. After that, you can proceed with the content briefing: keep short and very objective. Talk loud and clear and note people’s attention level: try to keep them awake but if you see them drowsing, you can refresh the atmosphere by changing your tonality or inserting a joke. At the end, don’t forget to conclude: a paper with no conclusion is an unfinished pointless paper! Sustain your speech with a proper visual support: in most cases, a projector would do a great job. Be careful of how you build your slides: use 80% drawings and figures and only 20% text, as the human eye and brain respond much better to suggestive drawings instead of regular boring text. Pay attention to coherency: your presentation must flow and your ideas must have continuity. Practice your speech at home or in front of your friends, ask for comments and critics. Good luck!!! Penstemon - Beardtongue - Wildflower For The Perennial Garden

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Paul Wonning Penstemmon canescensFamily Scrophulariaceae - SnapdragonThis particular penstemon is a transplant from the wild. In the woodlands of southeastern Indiana this wildflower brightens the summer forest with its pink flowers. Cuttings taken in summer rooted under mist in the greenhouse resulted in a superb addition to the perennial flower garden. Beardtongue is native from southern Indiana to Pennsylvania and south. The wildflower guides say penstemon occurs mostly in mountains, but it is present here in the hilly terrain of the southern portion of the state. In the perennial garden it grows a bit taller than in the wild and is much more generous in bloom. It will get about three feet tall and will bloom from early June until mid July. Sometimes it will bloom sporadically after that if deadheaded. Since beardtongue is a woodland flower, it will do best in partial shade to mostly shade in the perennial garden. It seems to bloom more in a sunnier location, but the plants will be more short lived. There are about 250 varieties of Penstemons in this family. One is of Asiatic origin, the remainder are North American. The most species are in the western United States. Propagation of penstemon is either from seed or cuttings taken in fall or late summer. Seeds from wild species can be sown and will come true. Hybrids will not come true from seed. Division of some species can also be done in the spring. The penstemon is a native American wildflower which can easily make the transition to the perennial garden. Also called beardtongues, these pretty wildflowers will brighten the summer shady garden with pink, white, or lavender blossoms. 2006Paul Wonning is the owner of Gardens and Nature.com a web site about gardening, hiking and other nature related topics. Patio Acid Staining

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By Ken Wilssens If you want to give your patio a tremendous facelift, then you really should consider patio acid staining. This is not a paint or a coating agent, rather it is a coloring process. It is a reaction to chemicals when applied to the concrete that changes the color. This should have a sealer applied when it’s finished. The result of this acid stain is mottled marble look. Most of the colors that come through will be earthy tones like browns, greens and some effects of blue, violet and pinks. This amazing way of doing concrete always brings surprises with the shades that lie within this stone. You won’t find two stones alike, as the hues change with every stone. This adds to the elegance of the look that is so pleasing to the eye. With an acid stain your concrete has to be in fairly good condition, as it won’t fill seams and cracks in your patio or driveway. A smooth surface will have a better outcome than a worn one. If you are working with new concrete, the only thing you need do is make sure to give it lots of drying time and clean it thoroughly when it’s ready. Acid staining doesn’t require a lot of tools, which makes it easier than replacing your concrete. All you need is a sprayer, a few brushes and a diamond blade saw for scouring the cement. You can choose your design, but remember the more complicated design the more labor that has to go into it. No matter what you chose you will end up with a patio that is spectacular. So go ahead and be daring. Try this wonderful way of sprucing up your patio. It is not that labor intensive and well worth doing. The hardest job you’ll have is to convince your neighbors you did it yourself. Then just sit and admire your handiwork and lap up all the compliments you’ll receive on your new patio. 11 Ways to Turnaround a Cash-Strapped Business or Practice

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By Adam Urbanski This past weekend I received a disturbing message from a dear friend. His business wasnt generating all the income he needed. Hes exhausted all savings, started depleting credit card reserves and badly needed money to pay this months mortgage… Ouch! I wish I knew sooner… Whether its pride or just human nature that keeps professionals from asking for help sooner, its just plain silly to keep toughing it out when there are so many strategies for generating new business fast. You see, there is really no shortage of new business, there is only a shortage of knowledge how to get this business. So if you are one of those professional folks who could use a few hundred bucks to help out with this months mortgage, here are a few strategies to get your business buzzing with new customers or clients: 1. Get on the phone!Pick up the phone and call everyone you know. Contact all clients, prospects, friends and family. Make sure they all know what you do, who you are looking for as a client, and how to “give you away.” 2. Get out and meet people!Sitting in the office, shuffling paperwork and piddling around with emails will not take you far enough fast enough. You need to be talking to people who can buy your product or service. Set a goal of how many people you want to see in person every day and find ways to meet that goal! 3. Stop competing and start leveraging!Instead of being mad at your competitors for stealing all your business, approach them and offer to help out. At times we all get projects that are too big, too small, or too whatever for us to take on. Contact your competitors and ask if they would be willing to outsource their too whatever jobs to you - so that you can both make some dough. (Yeah, I know, it sounds like eating some humble bread but hey, I think it beats living under a bridge ;-) 4. Ask for referrals! You should be doing this anyway. Have a conversation with all clients (past and current) and help them think of people they can introduce you to right away. Oh, and dont forget just because a prospect says no, it doesnt mean he or she doesnt know someone who would gladly say yes. 5. Crank up your follow-up!Do you have a stack of cards from people who turned you down once before? Maybe its time to resurrect them. Reach out to your old prospects - even if you previously gave up on them. Give them a call, send them a postcard or an article, and give them a special reason to say “yes” now! 6. Forgive your ex-clients!Frequently ex-clients realize they made a mistake by getting involved with another vendor but they are too embarrassed to admit it. Give them a way to gracefully come back to you and many will do it. 7. Catch a COI!Form an alliance with Centers of Influence who can introduce to a large number of prospects at once and give you instant credibility. Well thought out and carefully executed strategic alliances with COI can infuse your business with all the new sales you can handle. 8. Educate, educate, educate!Regardless of what business you are in you can always find things your clients and prospects would appreciate learning from you. How-to tips, informative case studies, industry reports those are all great tools that can easily attract prospects hungry for your stuff. 9. Start thinking strategically! If you are having trouble attracting enough new business, the marketing tactics above should help you get things hopping, but to achieve a long-term sustainable success youll need to address your marketing on a strategic level. Identify or re-evaluate your ideal target market, clearly describe the benefits your product or service provides, create a compelling marketing message, re-evaluate your business model and re-define your methods of delivering your product or service, etc., etc. 10. Stop getting and start giving! When you are in the how I can GET a client mode, you are focused on you and that doesnt make you very attractive. Shift your thinking to how I can GIVE clients more VALUE and youll become an irresistible client magnet! 11. GET HELP!When you are in the midst of a demanding situation you cannot always have the clarity needed to creating solutions. Collaborate with a successful associate, start your own board of advisors or a mastermind group, or hire a marketing mentor to pull you out of the quicksand. Remember, when time and money count you cant afford the expensive trial and error learning curve! Oh, and one final thought now that you are done reading - get busy implementing! (c) 2004 Adam M. He Doesn’t Like Me - What Now?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Billy Baker Find out what it is you are doing wrong 1. TRY TO BE A LITTLE INTROSPECTIVE Can you try and analyze the point that things went wrong. What happened at that point. Did you forget to laugh at his joke, even if it was not funny. Women are better at this than men, but if you are struggling ask a close friend whose opinion you trust to tell you what she thinks you are doing wrong. 2 ARE YOU BEING TERRITORIAL TOO EARLY Don’t do the “My Guy” routine too early. Men feel trapped by women being too possessive. Try and stand back a bit more and relax, and let things progress naturally. 3. ARE YOU DOING ALL THE RUNNING Are you going after guys when they have made it plain that they are not interested. 4. ARE YOU BEING TOO CLINGY Men like the chase, but they don’t want someone to be emotionally dependant on them. Try saying you have other plans for that night when someoneasks you out. 5. BE HONEST ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT STRAIGHT OFF Don’t take up a hobby and then complain you don’t like it later, after you have done it loads of times. Be honest first, tell him clearly how you feel. This puts the ball squarely in his court - then wait for his reaction. 6. DO YOU LISTEN TO RUMORS ABOUT YOUR BOYFRIEND Trust is important, but if you feel that it is not there, then gather some hard evidence before confronting him. Chances are he will deny it anyway, so getyour facts straight before you go all guns blazing. PPI and Secured Loans - The Small Print

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adrian_Hudson]Adrian Hudson Introduction As your home is put up as security against a secured loan it is nearly always sensible to take out insurance against the payments. All secured loan providers offer Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) and, as the market grows, there are a growing number of specialists insurance providers. This article discusses some of the things to be cautious of when taking out PPI, regardless of which type of provider you use, for a secured loan. PPI - Always look under the bonnet! The Financial Services Authority (FSA), who in January 2005 took insurance under their regulation, demands that all insurance providers provide a Policy Summary’ of the insurance they are providing. This outlines, amongst other things, the main features, costs and benefits of the policy as well as significant or non-standard claim exemptions and how long the cover will last for. In the search for getting to grip with the insurance cover for a secured loan the Policy Summary’ is normally the best starting point. The Policy Summary’ will start by telling you the significant benefits of the cover. It will tell you what you are covered for (for example, serious accident, death, sickness and redundancy). It will also tell you how they calculate the daily rate of cover, the maximum length of time the insurance will pay the secured loan payments, the maximum benefit per month, age constraints and what will happen if you pass away. The Policy Summary’ will then tell you about the significant exclusions or limitations of the cover and this is perhaps one of the most important areas to look at when considering taking out PPI for a secured loan. This section will normally tell you which sicknesses are not covered. For example, if you knew about a specific condition within 12 months prior to taking out the loan, you won’t be covered for that specific condition. Some insurance policies stipulate they do not cover for backache unless medical evidence via an X-Ray can actually show some sort of defect. It is important to also bear in mind that certain policies will not cover you for stress, stress related illnesses or most mental health problems. Most, if not all, policies also do not cover you if you take voluntary redundancy and will also not cover you if you are forced to take involuntary redundancy within a certain time frame (e.g 60 days) of taking the policy out. You will also find that certain policies will not cover you for the duration any payments are made in place of notice (these are typically called `payments in lieu of notice’). Perhaps the most important things to consider when taking out insurance protection for a secured loan are the things you know about prior to taking out the policy. For example, have you a record of sickness or are there any `rumblings’ at work about redundancies? You must be cautious about this and if you are unsure about anything then either read the policy document prior to signing up or ask the insurance provider if they envisage any problems. It is also prudent to get any advice’ about such matters down in black and white. It is very worthwhile going through with a fine toothcomb the actual policy document itself. You may find other causes for concern, for example some policies use the fact that you are claiming Jobseekers allowance to govern whether you are employed are not. There are cases when you might not qualify for jobseekers allowance (for example, if you have over a set amount in the bank or have been paid in lieu of notice). This outcome may be that even though you are indeed unemployed the policy will not make the payments against the secured loan. It is worthwhile making sure you know how long the insurance policy will keep up the payments. For example, most policies only cover you for one or two years. After this period you will have to make the secured loan repayments yourself (although you may find, as with most policies, you may be able to claim again on the policy after a set period). A significant thing is to make sure you know the termination policy of the insurance provider. You will typically find that the PPI provider for a secured loan must give you a month in which to change your mind about the policy. This is sometimes referred to in documents, on the Internet and in the Press as a cooling off’ period. Remember if you cancel after this time the refund will probably not be in direct proportion to the remaining policy term. So you could get back less than you might expect, or even nothing. This mainly happens because of the way secured loan providers set up the PPI. They will typically assign the policy cost as a percentage of the basic loan and add this to the initial loan amount. This means you are also paying interest throughout the term of the loan on the amount charged for insurance. If you ever have cause for complaint about the PPI you have been sold for a secured loan, you should first complain directly to the firm who sold you the policy and give them chance to put things right. If you’re still not happy with the outcome than you can escalate your complaint to the Finance Ombudsman Service. For advice about this it might be worthwhile paying a visit to their website prior to taking out the loan and insurance. Summary Like all insurance, PPI policies for secured loans generally include a number of exclusions or conditions that will prevent you from claiming on a policy. Whilst it is acceptable that the insurance provider protects themselves from fraudulent or deceitful claims, it is imperative you learn what you are and what you are not covered for. There is absolutely no point paying expensive insurance premiums for a worthless policy - and you would be amazed at how many people do! When taking out any monetary commitment, particularly if it is secured against your hose, it is always worthwhile seeking independent financial advice. Most registered I.F.A.s will normally give you a 30-minute consultation at no cost and there are also downloadable vouchers on the I.F.A.s various websites. Also, never be unwilling to ask the vendor about any details in the secured loan protection policy you’re unsure about. If the salesperson cannot answer your query then don’t hesitate to ask them to escalate the question to a Supervisor or Manager. As with anything in life, it is also worth asking someone with experience, so if you are taking out insurance for a secured loan, always ask around colleagues, friends and family to see if anyone has had experience of making a claim against one. But the bottom line is, always be careful where money is involved! Prepare For The Wedding Reception

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Eric Hartwell Done with the wedding ceremony preparations? Do not let the wedding reception be left unprepared! Almost everybody knows what weddings are all about. It is no wonder since almost everybody will get married someday. Marriage has made love stronger between husband and wife and made it possible for life and families grow. It is a commitment to be taken seriously, and now, your time has come to be a part of the married society, and a celebration is only fit for such an event. Preparing Your Wedding Reception Before preparing your wedding reception, you should already have the number of guests who will be attending available so that you can properly choose the right venue that can accommodate all your guests. The couple may opt to have a formal, informal or themed wedding reception. They may have their reception adjacent to the wedding ceremony venue, back at their home or somewhere fancy and remarkable. Once you have the list and venue taken care of, chose the cake and food caterer who will be preparing the meals and the cake. The decoration of the reception area should also be taken into consideration, so choose your florist wisely. It is better to choose a florist who understands your wishes and visions as to how the reception should look like. Before the reception takes place, have someone look over the area if these three things are already prepared. Of course, no newlyweds would want a disastrous first dance. The perfect solution for this is a well-prepared wedding dance. They can take lessons from professional dancers who can teach them the basic steps in the wedding dance. Since in every wedding celebration there are speeches and toasts told, it is a good idea if the bride and groom also come prepared with their own welcome and thank you speeches for the guests who have attended. For a very organized and well-coordinated wedding reception, one can employ the services of a professional MC (Master of Ceremonies) who will oversee the whole wedding program. The Skin Benefits Of Omega 3 - Tinned But Untamed

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Rebecca Prescott Omega 3 fatty acids and protein are great for healthy skin. Hair, skin and nails are mostly made of protein, though the minerals, vitamins, and phytochemicals we get from the best type of carbohydrates - fruit and vegetables - are also crucial if skin care is your goal. Protein is needed to repair cells, it is important for energy levels, balancing blood sugar levels, and is involved with glutathione production. Glutathione is an important antioxidant, and antioxidants are essential components of eating your way to beauty. So what are some good sources of protein that are somewhat under-represented in our average diet? Fish is excellent as it supplies both protein, and the omega 3 fatty acids, which are believed to contribute to skin health. The oily fish like salmon, tuna, cod and mackerel are good natural sources of omega 3, that have the advantage of avoiding the reflux problem associated with many fish oil supplements. Being a whole food, these fish also have DMAE, which is excellent for protecting cellular membranes and improving skin tone. (Angyal) Recommended sources of DMAE from fish are anchovies, sardines, and wild salmon. Canned salmon is a good option, generally. Although it may seem strange to encourage people to eat canned salmon over fresh salmon, it has some important advantages that are the direct result of farming practices for fresh fish. According to Erica Angyal, the author of Gorgeous Skin In 30 Days, canned salmon is typically wild salmon. Wild salmon and farmed salmon that was raised in crowded pens made of nets (think of an underwater battery cage), have some important differences in nutrient value. The food farmed salmon are fed is very different to what wild salmon eat. Wild salmon eat other sea residents such as shrimp and krill. And it is this diet that gives them the lovely pink color we associate with salmon. On the other hand, farmed salmon are fed soybean pellets and other cereal based food, which changes their ratio of essential fatty acids. They become characterized by higher levels of saturated fats and omega 6 fatty acids (linoleic acid), which we get plenty of in our diets anyway, and their levels of the beneficial omega 3 fatty acids become lower. Given that the whole point many people eat fish for is to change this very ratio in themselves, it seems to negate the point somewhat. On top of this, farmed salmon, like their counterparts in the poultry and beef industries, are fed antibiotics to keep them healthy and protect the farmer’s investment. There is an expectation of cost effectiveness and market value that determines the type of conditions farmed salmon grow in. To compensate for the lack of pink color, colors are added that can be made both naturally and synthetically. Whether they are natural or synthetic is generally up to the farmer. This is not to say farmed salmon is bad, or has no omega 3 fatty acids. It does, and it is better than nothing. And fresh fish is a lovely meal. But like eating free range eggs in preference to battery cage eggs, wild salmon is an infinitely better nutritional choice.
