Doing Burpees for Fat Loss

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Tisha Diaz Burpees are fun, even though they tend to make me a little dizzy sometimes. You need to take the following tips into consideration when wanting to do burpees for fat loss. Burpees can be great for fat loss because in the end they are just another form of aerobic exercise. If you’re reading this and wonder what the heck is a burpee, here is the basic routine. 1. You start in a squat position with your hands on the ground in front of you. 2. Then you kick your feet backwards to a push-up position. 3. You then immediately return your feet to their original squat position. 4. Without pause, you then leap up as high as you can from the squat position. You are using a lot of muscles with you going down to the ground, kicking your feet back, and then leaping into the air. More importantly, you are employing your quads and butt muscles that make up a large percentage of your muscle mass. That exercise increases your heart rate and causes your body to burn calories so that it can supply energy to those muscles. When doing burpees for fat loss you need to keep doing them for between 12 to 20 minutes. Your body only really kicks into fat burn mode after roughly ten to twelve minutes of exercise. Since burpees are quite strenuous activity, close monitor how you feel after a few minutes. Stop immediately if you feel light-headed or experience any discomfort or pain. Doing burpees for longer than 20 minutes at a time could also put your knees at risk. You put a lot of strain on your knees when you leap up into the air and land back on your feet. Like any aerobic exercise, burpees can be great for fat loss as long as you do them sensibly and do them regularly. Tisha Diaz recommends this fat loss and weight control program that will help you get rid of those excess pounds and make you slim and trim. http://www.losefatpro.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tisha_Diaz http://EzineArticles.com/?Doing-Burpees-for-Fat-Loss&id=498060 need to get a paycheck stub one hour loans online for bad credit no credit check payday loans payday loans no teletrack

How To - Casting Decorative Concrete

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Delmar Germyn Here is a short file on making a horse plaque to hang on your barn. Maybe make two and hang them on each side of the door. If these are going to be outdoors use concrete. You could cast these in plaster if they will not be outdoors. To get started you should organize your materials. I always get my cement and sand measured out before I start. First fill your mold with water, then pour the water into a measure of some kind. An empty margarine container is Ok for this. This will give you a rough idea how much concrete to mix. I would use a 3 sand to 1 cement for this, as it brings out detail nicely. set your mold up in your sandbox. After you have it settled in nicely carefully take it out and coat the inside with whatever you use for a release agent. When you have coated it put it back in the sandbox. Now mix your concrete adding water to get a “pancake mix” that will pour out of the container. When you are happy with your mix, pour it into the mold. I fill about ‘half way and wait 5 minutes or so. This lets any air out. Then I fill to the top. Let it sit about 15 minutes and then put in your hanger. I put a stick under the hanger so it will not sink. You can take it out when the concrete is cured. Once the hanger is in I cover with a cloth and put a piece of plastic over that. Now comes the hard part! Waiting! Wait at least 24 -36 hours. If it is cold then 48 would not be to long. You cannot rush this part. I have tried! I have a terrible time with this part. I always want to see how it looks. Do not be like me. You will have a huge pile of useless, broken concrete if you look to soon. Believe me, I know! After you wait, de mold your casting and keep damp for another week. After that you can let it dry and paint it if you want. If you have a big enough container, fill it with water and put the casting in.This is easier than spraying water on it every day. You could also put it in a plastic bag, that will keep it from drying out. Be sure to store in a cool place, not out in the sun where it will get hot. When Someone You Love Tries To Hurt Themselves

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Anna Allen Has someone you love tried to hurt themselves by committing suicide? If so, how did it make you feel? I ask these questions because I can relate to them. You see, my brother attempted suicide recently. The whole ordeal really affected me. I was an emotional wreck. I had feelings of guilt and kept asking myself, what could I have done to prevent this? Maybe I could have spent more time with him instead of being so wrapped up in my life. Maybe I could have been more alert and paid more attention to the signs. Maybe I could have done a little more to help him. I was beating myself up playing the Maybe I could have game. I thank God everyday that my brothers suicide attempted failed. Hes getting the help he needs and were spending a lot more time together. Things are getting a lot better. Hes smiling and laughing again. Hes on the road to recovery. So why am I writing about something so personal and private in my life? Well, if my story helps just one person, it will all be worth it. You see, we were lucky, but unfortunately many are not. Hopefully with this article, it will help you recognize the warning signs or help you understand and deal with your feelings. First of all, what are the possible suicide warning signs to look for? Talk of suicide (even in a joking manner) Isolation Recent loss (divorce, death, job, religious faith, separation, etc.) Previous suicide attempt Change in personality or behavior Change in sleep or eating patterns Sexual problems (impotence, erectile dysfunction) Low self esteem No hope for the future Substance abuse Giving away favorite belongings Making arrangements for pets Making out a will Giving up on life So, lets ask ourselves, Why do people give up on life? Well, Im a firm believer in the fact that many of those who take their lives do not want to die as much as they want to end whatever is going on. They want the pain to stop. Although the reasons why people commit suicide can vary, certain events in life can also trigger suicide. Some of these could be: Family or relationship problems Financial or work-related problems Retirement or physical illness, especially in elderly people. Loneliness Rejection Another triggering factor of suicide (and probably the most common) has nothing to do with anything on a social level, such as a job or relationship. That triggering factor has to do with a persons brain chemistry, which, in turn, causes Depression. Depression is one of the leading causes of suicide. The thing to remember is, Depression can be treated successfully. Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness can be reversed. Millions of people everyday cope with the problems and stresses of this world, so that nothing new. Its the way a persons mind and heart react to the pressures that lead some to kill themselves. So when the underlying factors are dealt with, many people react differently to the problems and stresses that can trigger suicide. Its important to realize that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. One expert described it by saying, Committing suicide is like treating a cold with a nuclear bomb. Suicide is never justified. I feel I have to mention the fact that sometimes its only easy to recognize signs of suicidal feelings after the fact. The present is a different story. Many times this is because its almost impossible to know what another person is thinking and feeling. Were not mind readers and it doesnt help when many suicidal people just dont open up and talk about their innermost feelings to others, even to close family and friends. That was the case with my brother. He is a very quiet person who rarely spoke of his problems or things that bothered him. So how can family, friends or others help? Well, first of all remember that all suicide attempts should be treated seriously. There is no room for error. Studies have shown that 20-30% of people who attempted suicide will repeat their attempt with a year. The study goes on to show that more than 50% of suicides (in the United States) occur in people who have had no contact with a mental health professional. So as mentioned earlier, there is help available. Your condition can be helped. No situation is hopeless. Another way that family and friends can help is to remember that sometimes an attempted suicide is a cry for help. So naturally family members and friends want to do and say the right thing to the one who has lost hope. One of the main things to remember is not to patronize them. They know what they did and why they did it, so they dont need to be babied. Also, it will not help to use expressions like: Get over it, A lot of people are worse off than you, Stop feeling sorry for yourself and Snap out of it. Instead, try to be there for them. Be a good listener and listen to whatever they have to say. Be a real friend to them. Stress to them that even though you cannot fully understand how bad they feel, the experience of others is proof things will get better. In the case of my brother, my family all gathered together and discussed how wed go about helping him. We made time for him and showed him how much we loved him. Dont get me wrong, there were mistakes along the way. There were some that patronized him and treated him like a porcelain doll. Some seemed to be walking around on egg shells around him. He didnt need that. My brother told me how bad that made him feel. Thats how I knew what to write in this article. All this experience has brought my brother and I closer than ever. I thank God he is getting well. The best advice I can give anyone out there who has gone through anything similar to my experience is to try to help their loved one by showing them that life, which should be their most prized possession, is worth living. In conclusion, if Someone You Love Tries to Hurt Themselves, remember, its not your fault. Stop beating yourself or blaming yourself. Get them the help they need. Be there for them. Dont patronize them. Show them you care. I hope I was able to help you by relating my personal and private experience. Career Success Through Following Your Urges

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Melanie Keveles You might think that the business of living life following your urges would be bad for you. That is if you subscribe to the belief that deep down human beings are evil if left to their own devices. Truth is, human beings are basically good. It’s the odd man that kills or maims if otherwise we’d have a much higher incidence of killing and maiming around us. What of the man who we read about in the daily newspaper who jumps into the water to save a child or even a dog? Or the uncle who wrestles a shark to retrieve the arm of his nephew? Chances are neither of these people just doesn’t even stop and think they follow their instincts or urges and do what they need to do at the moment to save a life. We generally call such people heroes, but the principle by which they act - doing what comes naturally to them actually is what’s remarkable. That same idea following your own urges in your daily life can offer you greater fulfillment and possibilities, if only you are able to override the programming you’ve had to countermand your urges. What would life be like for you if you were to spend a day or several days living from your urges? Not thinking about what you should do or what’s on your “to do” list, but from what YOU the inner person who lives inside of you wants to experience. What do you suppose would happen? Would you lie around on your couch all day eating bonbons? Would you sit at your computer composing the great American novel? Would you help a battered woman or a homeless person? If you are willing to experiment with this question and explore your own inner promptings, you might discover a whole new world of possibilities for yourself. You’d become an anthropologist, taking note of what your inner world affords you. Are you curious enough to see what results you’d achieve to try living from your urges for a day or two? If so, pick a weekend or a holiday as a time for your experiment. Arrange as much as possible to clear your decks of responsibilities. If you are a parent, see if you can park your child or children with a friend or relative for this time. If you can’t give up a whole day or two try just a half a day. Or simply pick times throughout your current daily schedule to check inside with yourself and ask yourself, “What do I want now?” As a matter of fact, using the question, “What do I want?” as a mantra can be quite a liberating exercise. It’s a most effective entre to the world of your own inner urges. How many times in the course of a day or a week have you been in the habit of asking yourself such a question? Laura Berman Fortgang, self-proclaimed “American’s Leading Life and Career Coach” and author of Living Your Best Life characterizes a question such as this as a “wisdom access question” or WAQ. The wisdom in this case are all the answers that reside inside of you. You won’t know what’s there, however, unless you give yourself the time and attention you deserve to seek your answers out. In addition to using the tool of a question such as “What do I want (now)?” as an access point to your own internal wisdom, you will also want to carry a small pad with you or a means of recording the information you are gathering. A client of mine told me of his experiment with following his urges and asking himself moment to moment what he wanted. He was in career transition, having taken a sabbatical from the world for six months and lived at a retreat center on the east coast, far from his home in the Minneapolis area. Upon his return, he was trying to decide what was next for him regarding career direction. He had a number of opportunities, open to him including going back to the computer field that he had left or working in the helping profession as a counselor, having credentials in both areas. He had hoped that the six months away would have helped him clarify his next steps. But he still wasn’t quite sure what he wanted. So he decided to spend some time staying very quiet and listening to his heart to see where he was led. One morning he had a list of errands that he needed to accomplish, but instead of doing these he reached inside of himself and asked what he wanted to do next at that moment in time. He was drawn to driving around in his car and taking in the nature around him. He also felt like listening to a favorite public radio station that played classical music he found calming and enjoying. And so he did this. And much to his surprise he saw a signpost on the side of the road for Hazelden, the world famous alcohol and drug treatment center near the Twin Cities. This organization had been completely off his radar - but at that moment he was filled with enthusiasm for working for that organization, even proposing a new program he could design. He raced home and sat down at his computer to learn more about the organization at their Web site and composed a letter introducing himself. He fully credits this new possibility in front of him with the act of following his own inner promptings. Hydration for Womens Health and Wellness

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Kim Jamieson I would like to share with you the importance of hydration that will help you insure maximum health and wellness. You must drink eight to ten glasses of water a day. I know you have heard this time and time again. I understand completely! I know how difficult it is to drink all that water in one day. Then start all over again the next morning. I used to think the same way until I found ways to change it up and get it down. Now I look forward to drinking water. Believe it or not! Last year I jetted off to France with my phrase book in hand to watch the largest sporting event in the world Le Tour De France. The cyclists that compete in the tour are some of the greatest athletes in the world. But what I notice about each cyclist, their family and friends was very enlightening. Each and every one of them drank water almost twenty four hours a day. I am an athlete myself and I understand the importance of water while playing a sport, but what was amazing is they always had water in their hand and were constantly drinking it. When they were sitting at a caf, during dinner, and just socializing with the fans, they were always drinking and hydrating themselves. It hit home with me. These men that are the best conditioned and in the best health drank water. At that moment, I purchased a bottle of water and have not stopped drinking. The recommendation of eight to ten eight ounce glasses of water will help ensure that you body has adequate water to keep it working properly. If you would drink at the very least eight glasses filled with eight ounces of water each day you will feel better. Your skin will be softer, suppler, your joints will feel better, be lubricated, and your overall health and wellness will improve. Drinking water helps to move the environmental toxins out of your body. Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Now, the next time you have difficultly drinking your 8 glasses of water I want you to think of ways to change it. -Add a twist of Lemon. -Add a splash of cranberry juice. -Add a little (not the whole packet) of Crystal Light -Think of low calorie juice to add to change the flavor.
